We believe in an America that enjoys the fruit of her hands. A robust economy comes from capitalism and moral integrity. We must uphold constitutional freedoms without excessive taxes and regulations by creating a free enterprise environment.
The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If ‘Thou shalt not covet’ and ‘Thou shalt not steal’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.
SMALL BUSINESSES
According to the Small Business Administration, there are more than 30 million small businesses in our nation employing 60 million workers, almost half (47.5%) of the U.S. workforce. Small businesses represent over 90% of American businesses and generate a third of all exports. Overbearing regulations and taxes, lockdowns and “mandates,” supply chain interruptions, big corp monopoly are hurting our nation’s entrepreneurial backbone.
KCP believes that a man who does not work should not expect to eat. We also understand that our Creator does not want us to just make a living but also prosper in our labor by using our God-given gifts. Thus our appreciation for business: an American hallmark and effective medium through which servant leaders can be successful and make a difference in this world. The more taxes and regulations are imposed on businesses, the less businesses have to devote to startups and job creation.
TAXES
We need to fix the taxation system, make it fair, and eliminate burdensome regulations. For this reason, KCP supports a 10% federal flat tax for everybody, including businesses — no exemptions, no deductions, no shelters. Our tax system cannot be engineered from the top-down but must have a common-sense approach and be simplified.
America is the land of the free and the home of capitalism. We, as a party, encourage each state to set tax rates with the welfare of their residents in mind and to provide tax incentives for start-ups and businesses that are investing in opportunity zones.
REGULATIONS
We support removing ridiculous and crippling regulations. They only hurt small businesses while providing a competitive edge to large corporations. Piling new rules on top of others is just another form of control. There should be a dedicated filtering system to help keep regulations that make sense while removing cumbersome and obsolete ones. We want to see businesses thrive. When they do, more jobs are created.
KCP does support the use of adequate regulations in some instances. We need to curb crony capitalism. Our public officials should not spend/waste tax-payer money to benefit themselves and the entities that have funded their campaigns. There is also a dire need to regulate the food and drug industry thoroughly. The American people need to live! There can’t be a strong economy without healthy people pushing it. We want to see our communities flourish, not poison them. Regulations are also required in the tech industry. Unethical monopolies that are destroying small businesses and stifling free speech have to be broken. Regulations against corrupt business practices must be enforced.
MINIMUM WAGE
Minimum wage sounds like a noble concept, but it is not biblically supported. Jesus, in Matthew chapter 20, tells the story of a vineyard owner who hired laborers to work for him. The first employees agreed to work the entire day for a day’s wage (one denarius). Later that day, the owner hires more laborers to work in his vineyard. That evening, the owner pays each worker the same amount, a denarius. The workers who had started early that day were infuriated. Their pay was the same as those who had just started working. What was the owner’s response? “Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?” (Matthew 20:15)
Minimum wage increases, let alone minimum wage, reduce profit margins. Employees become too expensive to hire at an entry-level, reducing time spent on the job and new hires. Our youth is affected the most as they need these jobs to develop skills. It also hinders low-skilled workers from converting their entry-level positions into stepping stones to climb the corporate ladder.
Regardless of how high or low the pay is, employees are free to choose their employers. They can gain more certifications or opt out of their current position to find higher-paying jobs. We, in this nation, are blessed to have options. That is the benefit of capitalism. There is evidence to prove that when a company does not pay their employees well, they do not get the quality they seek to remain competitive. KCP supports an environment where companies are empowered to pay fair wages, and employees have appropriate options and opportunities.
